Cork English Market

Today I walked into town to get some groceries at the infamous Cork English Market. It's a huge open air food market that has been open since 1788.  They have anything you can think of: fresh local meat, organic fruits and vegetables, chocolate, herbs, a huge olive bar, any kind of cheese you can think of, pastries, fresh seafood (eyeballs included...), and an asian market.  Everything there is reasonably priced so it looks like I won't be starving here!

Meghan and I just got back from signing up for the Ring of Kerry heritage weekend.  This trip is planned by the international students office.  They have been doing it for 6 years now. By the looks of the weekend's schedule we will be learning how to celtic dance, listening to traditional music, touring art centers and stone forts, learning how to play Gaelic football, listening to local speakers, all while driving around the Ring of Kerry.  The Ring of Kerry is essentially a driving route on one of the most beautiful coasts of south-west Ireland.  They told us it's the #1 tourist destination in Ireland.

There is a club here on campus called the Hot Beverage Society.  On our way home from signing up for that trip we stopped in for some free hot coco.  They had a bunch of different hot drinks and biscuits (cookies) and there were a ton of Irish students just mingling.  It was really cool. Sounds like a good Thursday night tradition to me!
